The 1792 Kentucky gubernatorial election was held on 17 May 1791 in order to elect the first Governor of Kentucky upon Kentucky acquiring statehood on 1 June 1792. Democratic-Republican nominee Isaac Shelby was elected unanimously by an electoral college vote.
Until 1800, Kentucky elected its governors through electors who were chosen via popular vote from the same districts as the Kentucky House of Representatives.
