Led by first-year head coach Bill Pace, the Commodores compiled an overall record of 2–7–1 with a mark of 0–6 in conference play, tying for ninth place at the bottom of the SEC standings. Vanderbilt played home games at Dudley Field in Nashville, Tennessee.
