Led by third-year head coach John Cooper, the Buckeyes compiled an overall record of 7–4–1 with a mark of 5–2–1 in conference play, placing fifth in the Big Ten. Ohio State was invited to the Liberty Bowl, where the Buckeyes lost to Air Force. The team played home games at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.
