It was a 72-hole stroke play tournament played from June 12–15 at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont and Plum, Pennsylvania, suburbs northeast of Pittsburgh in Allegheny County.
J. J. Spaun won with a score of 1-under 279 to claim his first major championship victory.
