Keir Starmer, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom since 2024 and Leader of the Labour Party since 2020, practised law before his political career began in 2015. After becoming a barrister in 1987, he mostly dealt with criminal defence work on human rights matters. In 2008, he became Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and Head of the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), holding these positions until 2013.
